Lenguax offers a short course (2 online sessions on consecutive days + online self-access) for those assessors tasked with deciding whether a pilot or ATC should be awarded Expert Level 6 in the ICAO language proficiency scale.

The aim is to present you with 5 key questions to ask about a candidate’s performance in order to determine whether the candidate can safely be awarded ICAO Level 6.

In addition to our well-received initial rater training course, we offer a short course for those assessors tasked with deciding whether a pilot or ATC should be awarded Expert Level 6 in the ICAO language proficiency scale.

There is a mixture of online group discussion sessions (over 2 consecutive days on Zoom or similar) and self-access reading and listening activities which you can access before the group sessions (2 modules, each containing 2 hours of material).  The aim is to present you with 5 key questions to ask about a candidate’s performance in order to determine whether the candidate can safely be awarded ICAO Level 6.

Module 1 (Online Self-Access):  Introduction to the ICAO Language Proficiency Requirements

Module 2 (Online Self-Access): Example Application of the 5 Key Questions to Full Test Samples

Module 3 (Online Group): Guided Application of the 5 Key Questions to Short Test Samples

Module 4 (Online Group):  Independent Practice Application of the 5 Key Questions to Full Test Samples

Certification Task (Online Self-Access): Assessment of 3 performances.

Important Information:

The course is suitable for those assessors tasked with deciding whether a pilot or ATC should be awarded Expert Level 6 in the ICAO language proficiency scale.

Most course participants aim to have approval from their regulatory body (i.e. their aviation authority) to perform that assessment role officially (for licensing purposes).

You should be someone who is:
– proficient in English themselves (i.e ICAO Level 6 or equivalent)
– comfortable using online communications software (in this case, Zoom)
– analytical & able to makes notes of performance evidence to link to decision-making
– open and sensitive to hearing others’ ideas and opinions
– reflective.

The certificate will inform stakeholders that you have been trained to know the ICAO Holistic and LPR descriptors and be able to apply them to speech samples to assess whether a performance meets the level 6 requirements.

Lenguax requires a minimum of 4 participants to run the course, and will close the course at a maximum of 8 participants. If the course cannot be run, you can choose a later course or claim a full refund. No problem at all.
